Even more unbelievable!
Monday was the day to rediscover. We went to Battersea Park and see the places I have lived 30 years ago!
Everything seems amazing to us and strange at the sam a time.
A trip on the bus gives you great look over the city if the bus has two stories.
TUESDAY
First Day at school!
Incredible and speechlessness...
This is the building. It is weird to hear all the same kind of stories from another part of the world about the architecture of art education buildings.
This is the new building of Central Saint Martin's. It was awarded as the best art school architecture, bla bla. But the users of the building have different attitude towards the building. It is huge (I remember this from ours). It has heating and noise isolation problems (this is not far again). But Phil Baines thinks that some old kind of stuff like letterpress looks good in it! Which I must agree. I will upload the photos later on.
The very sam a day we went to Chelsea another College of University of the Arts London to listen to Hatch Show Print!!!
This was incredible! To most of the people this can mean nothing but to me it was fantastic. I have write about them in my PhD thesis. This is a print studio doing letterpress poster for over a century! Please have them googled or watch the videos on youtube or vimeo.
They also had a beautiful exhibition after the talk!!!
WEDNESDAY
After this wonderful tuesday, we went to Brandon House!
The registration office for foreigners! (Aliens)
I will not comment on it now.
But the afternoon was amazing for me! I did my very first letterpress print!
I will upload it later. As recording was not allowed, I did not taken any photo of the studio. But I must say Helen was the best instructor I have seen. She knows and loves what she does! It shows how she is concentrated on the work when she starts talking!
It was great to hear that she did write a MA thesis about letterpress education. She will be my precious to learn from.
THURSDAY
Again I must say this week was the best I have ever had since I came here.
On thursday we have seen some places, but then I had to move, because I was invited to a lunch at Graham's workshop. I met Graham at the opening of the exhibition. He is a paper conservator. At the same time he owns a letterpress workshop. He involves with education. A lovely person to be interviewed and the workshop is unbelievable!
And the best part of the lunch was Jim and James from Hatch Show Print! I have met them in person! Jim and I had a chat! It was lovely!
Thank you Graham! For the lovely atmosphere you invited me in! I feel incredibly lucky to meet all those people!
Ozan was a little bored though waiting at home then we headed to have a beer at Look Ma No Hands!
FRIDAY
Turnpike Lane, disappointment!
Fortunately we were invited for a dinner at İsmail Saray and Jennie's place. Thank you for lovely chat and dinner! It was lovely to have someone from 30 years ago! Thank you for the advices!
Hope to meet you soon.
SATURDAY
Visit to Brick Lane.
9 km walk and arrival to hotel for a night!
SUNDAY
Sadly heading back Broadway Market with hands empty.
But we decided to have a nice time. So first we went to Museum of Natural History, then to Covent Garden and around!

That letterpress workshop seems like your heaven... Enjoy ;)
